Built for good.

Cable Bay

This new build was a replacement for an existing house, on a site situated next to the beautiful Cable Bay inlet. Firstly, we had to demolish the existing house – 2 weeks by hand, hauled up to the road above!

Designed by Design Base Architects, this 2 storey home is clad in V-Rib Colorcote with contrasting cedar features. It is striking and modern, but without making too much of a statement in the dramatic landscape of the inlet. The house really has 2 frontages – facing the inlet and the main entrance from the street. A gangway to the front door draws you down into the house and you can see right through to the view beyond.

Inside, gable ceilings with exposed trusses and floor to ceiling windows feature. With a neutral colour scheme and timber finishes, the house is all about light, spaciousness and the captivating views of the inlet from every room.

The floor joists from the old house were also retained and re-machined for the new tongue and groove timber flooring in the living area.

This was a rewarding project to be involved in, being able to provide the complete package – from demolition, earthworks and building through to finishing work including septic system, decking and fencing. Plus it was a great place to go to work each day!
